Fifteen thousand ! This is the number (at least) of châteaux built in France over the centuries, from the impregnable castle of the Middle Ages to the flamboyant Renaissance-style building, including the rich manors which unveil their architectural interest nestled in their parks, in all French landscapes. If, unsurprisingly, the châteaux in the Loire Valley and the Périgord are world-famous, numerous wonderful buildings were also erected all over the regions of France, and protected, maintained and renovated as historic or scheduled national monuments.
