The quintessential art of living

BIARRITZ

Elegance, charm and international renown. Few French seaside resorts project such a beautiful image to the world as Biarritz. A popular destination for European high society in the 19th century, its glittering past is reflected in its architecture. Belle Époque, Art Deco, contemporary and traditional, the diversity of its villas and buildings makes for a rare and prestigious real estate offering. Situated less than forty kilometres from the Spanish border, Biarritz is the heart of south-western France, boasting a privileged location between the sea and the mountains. Thanks to its international airport, it is accessible to travellers from all over the world. Water sports, hiking, cultural and gastronomic discoveries, Biarritz has become one of the finest embodiments of the French art of living by the sea.

MARKET INSIGHTS

Over the last five years, the Biarritz property market has undergone profound changes. Biarritz’s exceptional location and quality of life have made it one of the most popular destinations for people looking to change their lifestyle. Boosted by the Covid effect, the arrival of a new, affluent population made up of entrepreneurs and top executives has rapidly brought Biarritz prices up to Parisian levels. After the extraordinary years of 2020-2022, the market has stabilised. The decline in the number of transactions began in 2023 and is continuing. The fall in sales volume should logically have led to a correction in prices, but for the time being they remain high, underpinned by strong demand. Although telecommuting is sometimes called into question, it still allows many people to combine quality of life with the pace of their work. Finally, the appeal of the Basque country, combined with the slowdown in new construction, is maintaining overall stability, and bodes well for the future of the local property market.

MARIUS

Back to the roots

Marius is the return to his roots of a native of the region. Sébastien Sanjou was born in Bigorre, but it was in the Var that he earned his first star, working at the Relais des Moines. He comes from a family that has been involved in the culinary professions for 5 generations. In Biarritz, accompanied by a former sous-chef from the Hôtel du Palais, the chef has embarked on a project that is close to his heart. Here, the poultry and meat bear the names of the people who raised them. The vegetables come from the adjoining garden and the fish from the trawlers that have just arrived in port. Local, passionate and a great family story.
