When we think of Paris, 2 images come to mind: the imposing Eiffel Tower and the mythical “Butte” Montmartre. Since the dawn of time, Montmartre has lived a charmed life in Paris and in the dreams of so many around the world. With much enthusiasm, Marie Beauchet, director BARNES Paris 9 and 18, tells us why.
Firstly, this emblematic Parisian neighborhoods is a quite different than the others. It is an intimate village with the capital city, a confidential hamlet, where residents know each by face and name. Artists, actors, famous writers, and the rest of its population live in Montmartre to live happily. Montmartre offers a rustic atmosphere with a city touch. Besides, its vineyards are as good an excuse as any for a feast. This is just part of the reason why music, festivals, and good humor are a part of everyday life in Montmartre.
Montmartre is a mix of secrets, Marie Beauchet tells us. On one hand, it’s lively and effervescence; and on the other, it’s hidden and discreet. In terms of real estate, Montmartre offers a melting pot of extraordinary residences and charming apartments boasting amazing views. As you already know, Montmartre is set on top of hill, dominating the city. Here’s a tip: Locals are excellent walkers, enjoying daily workouts strolling throughout beautiful alleys in the neighborhood, without noticing.
Montmartre is a place you never stop discovering. At every turn, run into a gate or private road leading to hôtels particuliers with unsuspecting gardens, and the most beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower, surrounded by the capital city of Paris. Wind in between the easels and painters of Place du Tertre, and become enchanted by charming duplexes exposed beams and a view that’ll make any Parisian jealous, but especially those who don’t live in Montmartre,
At the bottom of the Butte, Rue des Abbesses and Rue Lepic are sought out for its lively atmosphere and vendors, delightful “bourgeois bohème” apartments as well as luxury buildings, renovated by talented architects like Charles Lefebvre. All of Paris comes to a peak in Montmartre.
Everyday life in the neighborhood is lively and sociable, conversations are easily picked up on street corners, restaurants are welcome. You can’t help but be charmed by this unique atmosphere. After a while, neighbors become family, and those who live in the neighborhood become long enough lifelong residents.
The BARNES agency opens its doors, on Rue des Martyrs, in the same spirit. It is the cornerstone of real estate between the 9th and 18th arrondissement, with antique roads leading to the village of Montmartre. Marie, an experienced lawyer specializing in real estate law, is accompanied by a team of 12 consultants in love, and from, this exclusive neighborhood. She entrusts us with the neighborhood’s hidden treasures, to share with potential buyers.
We asked Marie Beauchet to define the neighborhood in one word, she asked for an exception and gave us two: “village,” and then “convivial” or friendly. Montmartre, the friendly village, does have a nice ring to it.
But in the end, Montmartre is an exceptional place to live, and that’s exactly its charm!
