Stay up to date with the London real estate market

Perspective

15/11/2018

While the subject of Brexit is still hot, the Director of BARNES London, Beatrice Caboche talks to us about the London real estate market’s latest trends.

What’s going on in the London real estate market?

Don’t worry, it’s doing well, Beatrice Caboche tells us. In the United Kingdom, optimism is as high as ever. The number of transactions is identical to previous years, buyers remain constant and content. In the past, real estate prices in London have soared to excessive heights. Today, these prices have been reduced, introducing a new dynamism to the market. Potential buyers have newfound access to apartments and houses they wouldn’t have before.

The BARNES London agency enjoys a strong reputation with a British and international clientele. It was the first agency established into the BARNES network, which today has 85 agencies and more than 700 consultants around the world.

Proud of its leadership role, the London agency continues to meet and exceed the expectations of a demanding clientele. Our clients come from all over the world, but the large majority (70%) is French, but don’t necessarily live in France. The rest is split (15 %, 15%) between the English and other internationals from the United States and Asia, with an emphasis on China.

Our client profile has changed. Before, many expatriate families with small children solicited our services, but now more young professionals and couples with or without children. These new residents come by choice, to live in the heart of English culture.

What are the most in-demand properties in London?

The magic of London lies in its diversity of neighborhoods. This allows clients to choose according to preferences and lifestyle. For example, investors typically look for 1-bedroom apartments in Shoreditch, East London. This area, in particular, attracts young professionals as well as young couples, but also investors due to attractive rental yields.

Those with strong purchasing power and sophisticated taste lean towards houses or beautiful apartments located in elegant residential districts like Mayfair, Kensington, and Chelsea. These living environments are emblematic of London high society.

In northern London, the neighborhoods of Notting Hill and Primrose Hill are highly sought after for their trendy, chic, and laid-back atmospheres.

The BARNES team uses its expertise to provide high-end and customized services to exigent clients, from the acquisition or sale of a 500,000-pound pied-à-terre to a multimillion-pound residence in London or Surrey. BARNES London is also a leading coordinator of rental property and management in the United Kingdom, servicing foreign investors who want to invest in the burgeoning real estate market in London.

Beatrice Caboche says it best: London is a city where everything is possible.
