Orvieto - Enchanting Borgo Fattoria
Orvieto - Poggio Montone. We are pleased to handle the sale of a spectacular Borgo Fattoria immersed in the greenery of its private park, with a truffle vocation. It consists of no less than 55 hectares, 31 of which are arable land, irrigated by the property's small lake, and 21 hectares of woodland with tall trees. The property consists of a large manor house surrounded by farm buildings used as dwellings for the farmers, warehousemen, workers, carpenters and their families. Built in 1873, based on a design by architect Paolo Zampi, Poggio Montone was one of the first farms in Italy to breed pure English blood horses for gallop racing (Scuderia Bertone). This is why we find the stables for brood mares and stallions, the stud room and the coach and buggy depot. At the entrance to the large courtyard, we can see an evocative aristocratic chapel designed by architect Carlo Zampi, with frescoes by painter Tommaso Onori and a bronze portal by Maurizio Ravelli. The location is evocative, its high position on the hill allows a breathtaking view of the countryside, and Orvieto is also very well connected to Rome both in terms of distance and easy access. The historic equestrian facilities, the stone stables, the church and the small lake give the property a unique atmosphere. The hamlet falls within the DOC 'Orvieto classico' production area.
