Villa Cernobbio
Even from the driveway, which is a delicate mosaic of muted hues, one can sense the wonder in which one is welcomed. Azaleas in their different varieties, specimens of winter-blooming Camellia Sasanqua and spring-blooming Camellia Japonica give the measure of the vivid greenery in which it is immersed. Framed in no less than three gardens, the main body of the property, with its prestigious architectural impact, has three living levels, plus basement, totaling about 450 square meters. Ground floor: living room with piano, kitchen adjoining the dining room, which has been carved into a handcrafted lacquered wood conservatory made in England; the conservatory, is paved in stone and equipped with wicker blackout curtains, motorized. The wooden structure of the conservatory rests on a small wall hidden by fine wood paneling. The paneling affects most of the walls of the house and blends seamlessly with the ceiling plasterwork. They give a sense of continuity between one room and another, as well as lending a refined and welcoming elegance to the rooms. A single large living room has been divided by wooden walls in which doors, bookcases, cabinets and partitions interpenetrate into a precious piece of furniture that restores a charming atmosphere. Along the corridor, a decorated wooden panel from the 18th century has been inserted into the woodwork. A small bathroom completes the floor. Second floor: master bedroom with bathroom, sitting room and several closets, the furniture is very refined and custom-made. Second floor: a bedroom, with a full-size bed, a master bedroom and a bathroom. This floor is an example of accurate cabinetry. The floors of the three residential floors are made of national walnut wood oiled in place. The exterior facade is finished with white quartz paint. The terrace pilasters and window sills are handmade in artistic concrete, while the handrails and parapets are made of handcrafted wrought iron without welding, passivated and painted with micaceous dyes. The 3,000-square-meter Italian garden consists of hedges of Buxus arborescens, Taxus baccata and specimens of Ligustrum sinensis planted in precious Limoges enamel pots, The outbuilding, on the other hand, is on two levels connected by an external spiral staircase, handcrafted in wrought iron to a design. It is set in a second garden, in Provencal style, connected to the previous one by a small stone staircase. In the Provençal garden are the swimming pool, with an adjoining living room, dressing room, a bathroom and technical rooms, all excellently maintained, and a roof-terrace, with a wrought-iron gazebo, from which it enjoys spectacular lake views. A third garden, used as a play area, is located on a lower level. The exposure of the property is on three sides, east, south and west, in a well-ventilated and illuminated position; the conditions in the are excellent, the finish levels of absolute value. The large parking area, in natural pebbles laid according to the technique of "rizzata lombarda'' is shaded by a wrought-iron pergola, covered with large specimens of Trachelospermum jasminoides and Clematis armandii. It can accommodate two cars protected by a strong motorized chain that closes off the street side. The main road connection is the nearby Milan-Lugano highway, four kilometers away; the state border is seven kilometers away.
