The northern Hauts-de-Seine, where young Parisian families move for a remarkable quality of life

Perspective

07/09/2018

It’s no secret. These days, shifts in migration trends are making headlines. So we met up with Florence Chauvel, director of BARNES Hauts-de-Seine Nord, who let us in on some real-time updates.

She told us that the BARNES agency in the northern region of Hauts-de-Seine enjoys, with great pleasure, a strong migration coming for the greater part of west Paris. He went on to reveals to us that the Hauts-de-Seine Nord - comprised of the beautiful towns of Asnières, Courbevoie, Nanterre, Puteaux, La Garenne-Colombes, Bois-Colombes, and Colombes - are in the midst of a real estate boom.

Who are these new residents?

For the most part, families that own an apartment in Paris, especially in the 17th, 16th, and 9th arrondissement, even in Montmartre, have the desire to move to the welcoming towns of the northern region of Hauts-de-Seine. Of course, we also have clients from further abroad, as well as other parts of France, neighboring municipalities like Neuilly and Levallois, Florence specified.

They are looking for more surface area and more green space. and more greenery. Mostly, they are families with young children and a preference for a well-rounded, high quality of life. They want the village life, with local shops, impeccable safety and security so that children can journey to school alone, to dance, have soccer practice, and ride scooters. Education is one of the parents’ primary concerns, so it is with pleasure that they can find a selection of excellent public and private schools.

Why the enthusiasm for the communes of the Hauts-de-Seine Nord?

In recent years, the Hauts-de-Seine Nord has welcomed the headquarters of very large French and international companies, large banks, powerful media conglomerates, and advertising agencies. La Défense, Levallois, Clichy, and the other municipalities practice a very attractive policy that appeals to big brands. L'Oréal, IBM, Société Générale, and Engie have already taken the first step.

As a result, a large number of their employees want shorter commutes, so they often choose to move closer to the workplace. Going to the office on foot is a luxury that BARNES clients are looking for, says Florence. Also the ability to park your car in front of your residence, she adds, as it can get very complicated in Paris.

For those who are still working in Paris, the Gare Saint-Lazare can be reached in just a few minutes, between 5 and 10, depending on your place of residence in Asnières, Courbevoie, Nanterre, Puteaux, La Garenne-Colombes, Bois-Colombes, or Colombes. Living on the outskirts of Paris is no longer a problem; it offers all the advantages of a small town on a human scale.

But, above all …

Families make the leap over the Seine because the real estate opportunities are too good to overlook. In the snap of a finger, especially with the support of the BARNES team, those in the market can double their living space for a comparable price. Florence Chavel told us about a recent acquisition: A family with 3 young boys lived in a nice 3-bedroom apartment of 120 m2 in the 17th arrondissement of Paris; BARNES found them a house of 200 m2 with a garden, playroom, and garage, for the same budget, in a very popular area near the train station in the city center of Asnières. This is just one of the many life-changing examples. Beautiful houses with gardens and large apartments with terraces or a garden level are particularly popular. Sale transactions are usually made very fast, even after the first visit.

Many of them choose to leave an apartment for a house with a garden across the Seine for an unparalleled quality of life. Florence Chavel confesses that after buyers discover the sweetness of life in these small towns of the Hauts-de-Seine, it’s hard to return to the thrills of city life.

We must add that the communes pull out all the stops to offer its residents the very best. These small towns are equipped with the necessary infrastructure, the banks of the Seine are pleasantly arranged and there’s is a constant cycle of innovative cultural activities.

We challenged Florence Chavel to define the region of Hauts-de-Seine Nord in one word, but she conceded. Instead, she puts it this way: The 21st arrondissement of Paris. Well said.

Florence Chauvel is witnessing the boom of the “75021,” and she tells us that it’s not stopping any time soon.
