West Hauts-de-Seine, the elegance of the countryside 15 minutes from the capital

Perspective

09/10/2018

A true treat, Christian Seignouret, Director of BARNES Hauts-de-Seine Ouest, gave us the inside scoop on the property market in the communes of West Hauts-de-Seine, just outside the capital.

Right out the gate, Christian Seignouret comments on migration patterns and notes an increasing influx of Parisians and 'Neuilléens' who have abandoned their apartments for cities west of Paris, north of Rueil-Malmaison, and south of Sceaux and its park. Families, mostly, are attracted by the charming communes of Vaucresson, Garches, Saint-Cloud, Rueil-Malmaison, Meudon, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Marnes-la-Coquette, Sèvres, Clamart, etc. He told us that, more times than not, it’s a one-way trip. So it’s extremely rare to see residents of West Hauts-de-Seine return to Paris.

Why choose West Hauts-de-Seine

Families with children are also looking to enjoy more space in a peaceful, pleasant environment close to nature on a daily basis. West Hauts-de-Seine has become the natural choice.

Buyers with high purchasing power can afford much more surface area, a garden, tranquility and a sense of freedom that children often miss out on in Paris. Potential residents and expats from around the world are attracted by its proximity to shops and commerce, an abundance of extracurricular and cultural activities, and upbeat that contribute to the dynamism of West Hauts-de-Seine. But perhaps one of the most important attributes for growing families is the concentration of excellent schools, from primary, secondary, and preparatory to the prestigious grandes écoles: Le Lycée de Sèvres (SIS Section Internationale de Sèvres), Passy Buzenval, Centre Madeleine Daniélou, and the American School of Paris, among others.

With the public transportation of the RER and SNCF, residents have the luxury of living in the countryside just 15 to 20 minutes from the center of Paris, l’Étoile, Gare Saint-Lazare, and La Défense, the largest purpose-built business district in Europe.

Residents of Hauts-de-Seine invest, or have invested, in secondary residences in the mountains or by the sea, because they have already acquired a home to live in the fresh air of the countryside, surrounded by parks and forest in proximity to the city. As a result, buying property in the charming communes of Hauts-de-Seine is a savvy real estate investment.

The most in-demand properties

For the most part, clients of BARNES Hauts-de-Seine Ouest are looking for one of two types of properties that correspond to two different lifestyles. First, there are the townhouses built in the mid to late 19th-century, with vintage charm, a garden, a minimum of 4 bedrooms, and near shops and a village atmosphere. On the other end of the spectrum are sublime contemporary-style houses and architectural villas on larger plots in more rural areas. Both kinds of family residences, some with beautiful indoor and/or outdoor swimming pools as well as expansive treed lawns, are found in West Hauts-de-Seine. It’s your dream life in the countryside, 15 minutes from Paris.

In one word

We invited Christian Seignouret to play our little game: What’s one word that defines the western communes of the Hauts-de-Seine? His response was immediate: Quality. Its elegant residents benefit from a high quality of life in an environment where they can check all boxes of personal growth and, finally, fulfillment.
