BARNES

BARNES has opened a concept store on Saint-Barthélémy, in the French West Indies, that goes far beyond the confines of a real estate agency. The space itself is housed in a building designed in the style of a traditional Caribbean house, where it provides international customers with a diverse offering comprising everything from yachting to fine wines and contemporary art.
Today’s luxury real estate sector has to meet the expectations of clients who have become accustomed to a high level of service across all of their investments. The BARNES concept store opened on 25 November 2019 at the heart of the island’s capital, Gustavia, is the perfect illustration of this high-end positioning: “Luxury real estate is still our core business”, explains the store’s director, Rimma Pignet, “but we wanted to offer a broader response to the demands of both our French and our international customers. Which is why we have created this unique space, the only one of its kind on the island designed in a traditional villa style, complete with a reception area, art gallery and high-end real estate agency”.
The decor for the concept store was designed in partnership with Roche Bobois, with the reception area comprising a lounge/library, a dining room and a bar with two refrigerated wine cellars, whilst the patio area has a kitchen catering for a handful of tables arranged around a green wall, above which the offices of the BARNES St Barts team are located..
The drinks reception marking the launch of the concept store, organised in conjunction with Space Gallery, was attended by some fifty or so guests (clients, partners, decorators and architects), as well as BARNES President Thibault de Saint Vincent, and featured an exhibition of photos by Sébastien Martinon - one of St Barts’ most promising new artistic talents.
The walls at the concept store are fitted with rails from which to hang works of art. “Regardless of whether or not they are collectors, our clients appreciate being in a world that goes beyond the real estate context alone”, Rimma Pignet adds. “In addition to regular exhibitions, we will also be organising at least one wine-related event per week during the high season, from December to April. The concept store is perfectly equipped to offer tastings of great wines under the best possible conditions! Similarly, a yachting specialist will be joining us in March/April during the regatta season, when St Barts becomes the epicentre of the nautical world”.
The real estate offering will, of course, showcase the most stunning villas and properties on both the sales and rental markets in St Barts, as well as giving clients access to all of the properties handled by the 90 BARNES offices around the world.
